Why an open organization?

It consists of a new model of organization, which has the purpose is democratize the institutional structure and all people who are part of InkuA can contribute ideas, suggest changes, develop own projects, give their opinion about the process. It means everyone can be a central part of the construction of the same organization.

In that sense, our internal configuration responds more to a horizontal system of participation than to a vertical hierarchy of areas.

Advantages of an open organization

The structure of an open organization is emergent in nature, it means, the departments and roles arise according to the needs of the projects that are being developed. Therefore, it can exist in a permanent way or during a period of time. And then to be configured later again in other departments, or roles, or just be dissolved.

Furthermore, it has similar characteristics to redundant systems because different departments carry out the same role. So that if the roles of one department are modified, another covers its tasks.

The organization of InkuA is similar to the distributed systems (solidarity systems in which a large number of volunteer’s computers are connected remotely and perform the same tasks. So, if one stops working, the rest continues with the activity, and as a result the system doesn’t fall). This allows more efficiency and prepares the possibility of achieving the same results in different ways.

Each team of InkuA can access to the information in a autonomously way, organizate it according to their needs, and carry out the process that they need to the development of the projects. Then, share the results with the rest of the teams, and generate a synergistic learning model.

In fact, GitHub is one of the platforms that we implemented. This allows us to open our doors to the world, and that every person who wants to contribute something can do it without restrictions. Moreover, in that way the actions of the foundation become clear because all our information is openly available to any internet user.

In this way, InkuA is a huge virtual network in which everyone adds from their own place to achieve a horizontal exchange of knowledge and experiences in an open and peer-to-peer way, without restrictions and without information limits.
