InkuA's Human Resources is preparing workshops and research papers in order to contribute tools to the community, which prepare to volunteers when they are going to insert in job market.
It all began in the Human Resources Onboarding team with the idea presented by Bárbara Torres (Ex director of InkuA’s Human Resources, who currently is the advisor of the foundation) and Nahiara Gonzáles. The purpose of this idea was to guide interns about how to create a resume. This generated an effect such as “snowball” that motivated the rest of the group to present their own projects.
Each of them started to propose a theme specific to the sector and very helpful to those who are just starting in the search of their first job. Because they believe these themes and strategies are usually unknown to the people who don’t have any work experience.
Thus, various proposals emerged:
- “Negotiation of employment contracts”, developed by Romina Preto.
- “Preparing for the job interview” , developed by Laura Gomez Lisardia and Stefania Cañete.
- “Emotional intelligence at work from the perspective of Human Resources” developed by Rocio Lator, Beatriz Cáceres, Cindy Santana Oviedo, Yanet Torres, Mariana Nascimento and Jean Carlo Hinojosa.
- “Storytelling”, developed by Maria Manuela Lefipan, Diego Guevara, Barbara Chiguaipil and Marina Costa.
- “Oratory applied to interviews”, developed by Roxana Rios, Vanesa Canella and Luna Muñoz.
- “Work motivation”, developed by Elizabeth Kalil, Johanna Rojas, Valeria Sena, Cintia Solier, Mayra Stefanía Ramirez and Mery Soria Fermin.
Each of these proposals were designed by the interns themselves in order to be presented as workshops, or as research papers to the general public.
The experience of preparing a workshop
The different areas at InKuA doesn’t work in a isolated way. Thus, on this occasion, Human Resources had the support of the Communications area for the purpose of correctioning the texts, and the execution of pilot tests before its talks were exposed in front of the general public. They also had the support of the Design team to the execution of the presentations.
We communicated with Romina Preto and Stefanía Cañete to be responsible for telling us a little of their experience while they were carrying out this project. Here are some of the words they kindly shared with us:
Why do you choose the theme you chose for your presentation?
Romina: “Because I am passionate about Labor Law. There are many people who don’t know their rights and duties as workers. And without knowledge, people become vulnerable, and the employers take advantage of that ignorance. I don’t like that word, so let’s say better lack of awareness. In addition, it is a theme that will always accompany anyone who decides to take a job. Incorporating this knowledge allows them to take a stance and negotiate with an employee in a successful way. And know how to act in certain situations, which happens during the employment relationship, and also when you want to end it.”
Stefanía: “It was important for us to work on this because we saw the need to think about interesting topics to share with the public in order to provide knowledge and abilities, which are so lacking and so many people are unaware of. From our places as professionals of Human Resources, we are focused on giving a practice or training workshop for people who are going to attend a job interview can perform as well as possible.”
Did some inconveniences emerge during the process of production of them? Did you feel nervous or have some doubts?
Romina: “Although I carried out all the project alone. I never had doubts or felt nervous. I was so sure about what I was creating. Moreover, I felt the company of my responsibles and Nico Darchez (Communications director).”
Stefanía: “Yes. I believe that everyone feels nervous. More than anything else, it is important to be prepared and sure about the information that we are going to communicate and share with the public. All must be done with responsibility. We must know what and how to communicate.”
Had you already carried out similar projects in the past?
Romina: “No. It is the first time that I made a talk project.
Stefanía: “No. We hadn’t done these projects before.”
Approximately how long did it take you to develop this project?
Romina: “It took me around 2 months.”
Stefanía: “It all depends on the availability of each person because we all have different lives: we study, we work, we have children, we live in different countries. Sometimes it is difficult to coincide with meeting times. However, the good thing is that we reach a common point and organize ourselves to work collaboratively. And precisely, the projects which are ready took around 3 to 4 months.”
Besides the ongoing projects, do you plan to work on other similar projects in future?
Romina: “I don’t think so. I started to work in dependance work and I don’t have enough time to dedicate to creating another project. I will keep wondering about not carrying out the project called: How to search for a job.”
Stefanía: Yes, yes, of course. At this moment, somes Human Resources responsible are working to create new ideas and projects.”
What advice would you give to other people interested in carrying out similar projects?
Romina: “I would recommend they bring themselves to do it because it is a wonderful experience. They are always going to have company from the beginning to the end, not only by their area. The Communications area helped me around 80% in this project, keeping in mind that I belong to the Human Resources area. The presentation was designed by the Design team, and I really enjoyed the process.”
Stefanía: “The advice we can share to people who want to start a project is: search for something that could be useful and rewarding to the other. At InkuA, there are many professionals of different disciplines and areas, and I consider that we all have something to contribute in knowledge to each other's lives.”
Is there any interesting anecdote that you would like to share?
Romina: “It all started as a project of 6 pages and finished with 14. In each return, Nico Darchez made me add more things . He was more excited than me in this project ⦏laughs⦐. Every time we had a meeting I wanted more projects to be created: We can do this or that”.
Stefanía: “I don’t know if it could be considered as an anecdote, but I would like to emphasize the connection there is among the team and the interns. It is satisfactory to see how we work, how ideas and suggestions are given. Everyone from their place, their knowledge and experiences. We all have the same objective, which is to contribute to society.”
